Common sense booster from Belarus
Advice for the whole world, including China
According to a January 21st report from the Russian news agency TASS, Belarusian President Alexandr Lukashenko (Александр Лукашенко), offered some advice to the rest of the world:
“An American or Western expert said, 'If Omicron is such a mild virus, let's all get it. That will be our vaccine.' This seems like an ideal suggestion to me.”
Lukashenko recently recovered from a case of Omicron.
As for Covid-19, he continued, “my advice would be not to sweat it. I've been saying it for a long time since the outset: the disease is here, in our heads. Oohing and ahhing and running around like a headless chicken is a recipe for trouble1. Young people have nothing to worry about.”
He continued: “I want to tell all these international crooks: Enough already. They have already picked our pockets to the point where there is practically nothing left. They have already stripped everyone bare. It’s time to end this pandemic. They’ve mocked humanity long enough.”
This is a paraphrase. In the original Russian: “Как только вы начинаете охать, ахать и бегать черт знает куда - это беда.”
