the difference in this case is that the chinese deaths were AVIODABLE if they had simply rolled out the COVID controls smoothly instead of dumping them, the elderly could have been protected - which is what they SAID they wanted to do.

The path taken - suddenly dropped all containment efforts in the middle of the winter without any preparation - was certainly a deadly one for millions. Almost any other approach would surely have been better.

This is of course a big hint that what happened was in fact not planned at all, but rather a case of force majeure.

Likely. The problem is that they also decided to head for the hills and stay up there until nature ran its course. What they could have done was to prepare medically, for example by copying Uttar Pradesh and distributing ivermectin and/or HCQ+zinc IN ADVANCE to the entire population aged over 65. Placing a huge order for ibuprofen to make sure adequate supplies would be available for the entire population also seems like a no-brainer. But apparently it didn't happen.
